The Swayze (when preceded by "the," it is pronounced 'sways') gets sick, and now, suddenly 9 of you choose him for a comeback over such American icons as JCVD (not American), Steven Seagal (not an icon) and Wesley Snipes?
Actually, he'd be my second choice after JCVD. I was never all that big a fan of Mr. 3-Word Title, so I surely don't want a comeback from him. (Seagal carried the 3-word title streak for awhile - Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Marked for Death, Out for Justice - before finally giving in and not so coincidentally making his best film - Under Siege.) Snipes has barely been out of the spotlight, either because of his legal troubles or the Blade series (it doesn't really matter). But even with as much pleasure as Roadhouse and Point Break have given me, JCVD is the undisputed king of unintentional comedy (action division) and has brought such joy into all of our lives.
For the latest poll, it's time to play favorites. Might be an easy choice for some, might be hard for others. Did I miss anyone big? If you think I did, you're probably out of your element altogether.

I am ashamed to type this, given that I have never heard anything but rave reviews:
I have never seen The Big Lebowski.
My dad has, and so he bought a copy of it a few years ago, but it's missing in action, so...
But that's not much of an excuse; I suppose I could just rent it.
It may be too late, what with all the hype and all. Still, if you're a fan of the Coens and/or Bridges and/or Goodman at all, you really ought to.
Maybe I would've voted for Swayze if he were to star in Red Dawn 2- Shit's On, Commies! I mean, do any of those actors have stuff going on besides Two and a Half Men or Celebcadabra?

In my mind his comeback came in Donnie Darko.

You did forget someone actually. The Narrator/Stranger played by Sam Elliot. I mean come on! Sam Freakin Elliot! His mustache alone can kick the ass of anyone who gets in his way!
But I voted for the Dude anyway cause I sympathize with him.

Jason - I did think about the Stranger for a sec, but didn't think he was in it enough to qualify. Same reason Brandt didn't make the cut. Though I guess by that thinking, Jackie Treehorn shouldn't have made it, either. What can I say, I think that's a great character name...
Ok, I'll bite...how do you sympathize with him?
DC Girl - you'll find no hate for the Swayze here. I never really thought he went away totally, but he didn't fade quite a bit from his heyday. Here, I was specifically thinking back to his action roots. He hasn't made one of them in years...
Well, pretty much I'm the kind of person who's just there and weird ass things keep happening to me, or weird ass people come up to me and do/say weird things and I just wanna sit on my rug and listen to bowling tapes, man. It ties the room together...

I've always found POINT BREAK to be a wonderful, guilty pleasure and probably my fave Patrick Swayze role. He really invests everything in that performance.
And for just sheer ridiculousness, you just can't beat ROADHOUSE. I loved Kevin Smith's commentary on the new DVD for it. Great stuff...

Jason - do you have to curse so much?
JD - Point Break is no guilty pleasure for me, as there's no guilt attached. I think it's flat-out one of the best action movies of the last 30 years, no ifs, ands or buts.
Now Roadhouse, on the other hand, is the ultimate guilty pleasure movie for me, up there with Bloodsport and The Karate Kid. I haven't heard the commentary, but that sounds like a winner, and I do need that flick on DVD....

Yeah, I guess POINT BREAK isn't THAT guilty altho, the script does make me cringe at times, but yeah, it is beautifully shot and choreographed. I really wish Kathryn Bigelow would make more films.
ROADHOUSE is most definitely a guilty pleasure, 'tis true. You should definitely pick up the new SE DVD of it. Smith's commentary is hilarious... almost better than the film itself.
