Ladies of the 80s Tournament - Round 1: Donna Dixon (3) vs Molly Ringwald (6)

Previous results: Oh, Sloane, dear! Do you have a kiss for Dad-dee? Sara whooped on JJL, 27-11. Click here to view the updated full bracket.

Donna Dixon

Comments: Perhaps the biggest thing Dixon is famous for is being married to another 70s/80s icon - Dan Aykroyd, her co-star in one of my favorite 80s comedies, Spies Like Us. Sadly, that's about the only film she's really known for outside of 1992's Wayne's World, where I don't think she uttered a single word.
80s Highlights: Spies Like Us, The Couch Trip

Molly Ringwald

Comments: You know what I said about Jen Jason Leigh yesterday? Well, the same thing more or less applies to Ringwald, minus the part about her becoming a great actress. So what's left is the part where I say that she never really did all that much for me. She was mildly cute (and certainly a minority as a redheaded star), but she always came across as whiny. Perhaps it's just the (few) parts I saw her in, but that was enough to turn me off to her.
80s Highlights: Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink (sure there are others, but it feels wrong to include them)

Dixon at 2? Hmmm I like her, but she's incredibly forgettable in most of her roles. Ringwald was a huge star in the 80's, so my vote goes that way. Besides, I've always had a soft spot for redheads (regardless of whine-meter).

Dixon is hotter, but Ringwald's filmography will probably push her through, still I vote Dixon.

My vote automatically goes to the dorky girl who can snag a hottie like Jake Ryan.

Great matchup. This is the one that will indicate how the people will choose the Ladies of the '80s Champion: hotness vs. '80s-ness.

Ms. Dixon was eight kinds of hot (and who doesn't love "Spies Like Us"), but Molly Ringwald is like THE '80s poster child.

Me? I gotta go with The Princess(and if she wasn't in Curtis' bracket, Molly'd probably coast to Final Four)

I gotta give it to Ringwald. She's like... the poster girl of the 80s.
