I know it's popular to hate on this movie these days, but this is how I feel headed to Washington today:
"You're the best ... around"
"It's in the hole!" | |
"Darn tootin" | |
"You seem a decent..." | |
"Whatever" | |
"I want you to punch me..."
"I'm mad as hell..." | |

5 people have chosen wisely: on "Just because: Garden State"
My thoughts exactly Fitz!
I just rewatched this for the first time in years having not liked it much the first time and was suprised by how funny and quitely introspective it is. I'm suprised Zac Braff didn't make more of his own movies instead of going off to star in really bad ones. It is a minor film by all accounts, but it's one with it's heart in the right place. That's enough.
Fitz, Wayne - Surely you've seen and/or heard about all the Garden State hate, though, right? It's almost as popular to hate on as Juno (but not quite).
Mike - True true. The Last Kiss was bloody awful. Never saw the one with Jason Bateman, and I don't even know what Braff has been up to over the last three years outside of wrapping up his role on Scrubs. Keep waiting...
Yeah, what's with the hate for Garden State - other than to hate it because artsy diletante film watchers liked it so much. It hit all the right notes for me. "Who wants to waste some time?" Running like spazzes out of the way of a falling arrow - all great stuff. Method Man? Outstanding!
The Juno hate-on bothers me too. I think I get that one though. I think it was sold as something it might not have been - especially if you look at the way Reitman handled Up in the Air. That and the real-life pregnancy pacts... Why to airheaded tweens have to ruin it for everyone?
I heard about it. I thought I was going to be one of the haters, but surprisingly I wasn't. Something about Natalie Portman in a padded helmet.
