Initial Thoughts #3

Last Week: JSR pwned you all, getting 10/12 movies. Step ya game up (everyone else); nice display, JSR.

I'm going to give you the initials of a number of characters from a movie. It won't always be the same number of characters, and the initials won't always stand for a proper name. You name the movie. Simple enough? I thought so.

The Movies
1. MM, FR, BC
2. BG, AC, RP, IH
3. EF-H, AM
4. AM, BM, B, DD, LD
5. CD, AS, "N"L
6. DQ, M, L, VC, R
7. M, G, I, S, C, V, J

9. WE, DH, VE, ME, CBB, JR
10. SW, MB, OP, AS, M
11. HH, AB, TM, GK, DM, MM

Good luck!

Nice job, Jack. Though at this point, you seem to be the only one playing...

did these get harder? or did i get dumber?

1 Old School

and yes Wendy, they are way harder this week.

Wendy - I thought of that while making this week's game. It's bound to get a bit harder, since I started off with a bunch of pretty iconic films, and there are only so many of those. But I try to pepper in some clues where I can - might be something to the number of characters I include or even something simpler like the initials in a given name or a quoted nickname initial here or there.

JSR - yes, correct on all fronts. I'm curious as to what your process is when it comes to solving these. I would expect most people to gaze them over, attempt to figure them out then and there, and then move on. Yet you seem to keep coming back sporadically with one here and one there. What's the story?

Well Fletch, my process changes a little bit throughout. Last week, Clerks and Princess Bride popped out at me immediately. Then I looked at your favorite movies on your profile page to come up with a couple of them. Also, a couple of them last week (american pie and oceans eleven), i just thought would be good movies for this game and when looked at the clues i saw they were there.

This week was much harder. Since hudson hawk had already been guessed, i thought maybe you had a theme of bad action movies. This thought led me to National treasure and transformers. i glanced back later and realized that WE was wyatt earp and that made tombstone obvious. I then got Old School, Bull Durham, Rounders and Total Recall by looking at my own movie collection and quickly comparing the lead characters name to the first initials listed.
Spies like us was crazy random, i kept wondering to myself what "F-H" could stand for, and for some reason the name Fitz-Hume popped in my head, so i searched the name on IMDB and the lone result was Spies Like Us.

So it is all pretty random. It really comes down to the fact that your games combime my love of movies, my love of trivia/games and that my job affords me alot of time for thought.

What an insane, NFL-interview-like response.

7. V for Vendetta

JSR - I appreciate the breakdown. Though there will be no themes (at least not explicitly and not covering all of the films). Interesting to hear how you came to all of them.

Paul - I got nothing for ya. Though I might say:

"Coach, your responses in the first half of the game turned out to be bad decisions. What, if anything, do you plan on doing differently in the second half to turn things around?"

The unanswered:

4. Beetlejuice
7. Top Gun
12. Basic Instinct
