Tuesday's Twelve Tags #33

Last week's winner: Tag monster Jess, with 10 points.
The theme: Each film contained a rabbit somewhere in it. (BD79)

Here's the new dozen. The rules are simple: I'm going to give you a dozen taglines, all you have to do is name as many flicks that they belong to as you can. One point per tag. Try to resist the Google. Get the most points and you win. In addition, there will always be a theme, though it's point worth will vary according to how difficult I think it is.

New new twist (again!): I was given a great idea by part-time commentor Farmacy to partition the 12 tags into groups of three, with a theme for each. Leads to a bigger overall theme value while not necessarily making the theme-getter an automatic winner. Also means I don't have to find a theme that crosses 12 films, which can be difficult sometimes. I like it, though I'm gonna divide the tags into two sets of six for starters. Theme values will still vary by difficulty. Still with me? Like the changes? I hope so.

Group 1
1. Things Are Gonna Get Hairy!
2. They'll do anything to save their best bud.
3. For the most cautious man on Earth, life is about to get interesting.
4. The sport made him a Legend. His heart made him a Hero.
5. From the master of terror comes a new breed of evil.
6. Joint Custody Blows.
Theme value: 5 points

Group 2
7. He doesn't play golf... he destroys it.
8. The battle between the good and the bad is bound to get ugly.
9. It's not the same old bull.
10. Only a jackass would fix the Special Olympics
11. They're not really criminals, but everybody's got to have a dream.
12. It's happening so fast.
Theme value: 7 points

As you get them right, I'll mark them as gotten and stuff. Good luck.

3. Along Came Polly

By the way, nice job on 4 on the first group, there are about 4,000 sports movies that could use that tagline.

BD, I'd imagine that most sports movies, outside of ones that call out the sport, like Gilmore, have overwhelmingly generic taglines, since most of the movies themselves are so cliched.

But thanks! :D

I'm telling you Fletch, this game is all about the theme. It gives you clues on the other films that you cant seem to figure out and brings them to the light! In this case, group one has the theme of a Baldwin appearing in every film

1. Cats and Dogs (Alec)
4. 8 Seconds (Stephen)
6. The Squid and the Whale (William)

Thank you!

Justin said...

And for the record, Half Baked has Stephen, Along Came Polly has Alec, and Vampires has Daniel.

I'm gonna take a stab at group 2 as well. . .

8 is Drop Dead Gorgeous
Can 9 possibly be that Rocky and Bullwinkle movie?
12 should be Thirteen. . .

All of the films feature an actor or actress who was in a long-standing television show (I know this is usually guessed, but we're talking very successful here):

Happy Gilmore (Julie Bowen - Ed)
Drop Dead Gorgeous (Allison Janney - The West Wing)
Rocky and Bullwinkle (Jason Alexander - Seinfeld)
The Ringer - (Katherine Heigl - Grey's Anatomy)
Bottle Rocket - (James Caan - Las Vegas)
Thirteen - (Evan Rachel Wood - Once and Again; Holly Hunter - Saving Grace)

Any luck?

Look at Justin - coming back to reclaim his throne.

You did almost perfectly, Justin. Everything good to go save for the big daddy: I'm afraid your second theme guess is not the answer we were looking for.

Right now, with 7 points left on the board, I show Justin with 12...and no one else with a chance of beating him, as Nic Cage is currently 2nd right now with 3 points.

If there are no more guesses on the 2nd theme, I'll spill the beans soon.

The music in all of the movies on the second group was composed by Mutato Musika, a.k.a. Devo.

Aka Mark Mothersbaugh. Exactamundo.

Justin said...

Never would have gotten that one! Glad I did all the work on the first group!

So Fletch, do you think I could make one of these one week?

Fletch said...

You mean you wanna do all of the work and come up with the tag and all that?

Absofrigginlutely!

Send me your email address and I'll send you a Blogger invite. I'd love the chance to play my own games. :)

I actually just put it together since I sent you that comment. . .

It's ready to go haha!

I guess I should start blogging more frequently because this might increase my traffic, huh?
