New poll - Pixar, part II

There may be a few leftover votes, but I'm calling the fight right now. It started out as a close fight (Lederman scored it 10-9 through the first round), but quickly turned into a TKO. Insert other boxing analogy here. Long story short, The Incredibles is the runaway winner and earns the title of Best Pixar Film with 33% of the 53 votes, followed by Wall*E with 18% and the original Toy Story with 16%.

Commentor Farmacy had the better idea - what would you choose as the worst Pixar film? I have a feeling this will be a 3-way race between A Bug's Life, Monster's, Inc., and Cars, but who knows. Our buddy Nic Cage (commentor, not actor) is a big fan of Cars, and when Nic Cage talks, people cover their ears.

Cars has to be the worst, right? At least A Bug's Life has the redeeming quality of David Hyde Pierce?

Some of these I can't comment on because I haven't seen them, but I loathed Toy Story 2, really and truly.

But I loved Monsters, Inc. so take that for what you will. And I thought A Bug's Life was pretty so-sos, but it was better than Toy Story 2.

I'm seriously surprised you mentioned monster's inc. That is my 4th favorite pixar, with finding nemo, toy story 2, and wall-e ahead of it. Also, I dunno why, but there was just something about The Incredibles I didn't like, and even after 4 years I still can't put my finger on it. It wasn't a bad movie by any means, but it just wasn't something I would expect from pixar, and I'm still pretty sure I'm alone on this. As for the worst, its got to be Cars, which wasn't bad, but is seriously mediocre in comparison to the rest of pixars movies.r

That, my friends, is why they play the games, to paraphrase a sports cliche. I mentioned those three based mostly off of the general public opinion that I've noticed. It looks as though, through all of 5 votes, that I'm not far off, with Cars dominating, and a vote for A Bug's Life.

Though it may be coincidental that those are the three I've seen the least (I've only seen portions of all 3).

By the way, Mike, your Joker face pic is effing hilarious. Nice touch.

Without question the best Pixar movie thus far.

A Bug's Life should have gotten a little more love.

And a tip of the head to you, sir.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone straight-up disliking Monsters, Inc; it's just not on top of everyone's list. That being said, I was one of the 4 to vote for it.

I've only seen parts of Cars, but it was pretty grim. Casting Larry the Cable Guy will probably be seen as on par with putting Carrot Top in a movie; he's got no staying power. How can you put him in rank with Tim Allen, Billy Crystal, Samuel L Jackson and Ellen Degeneres? Sure, they may not be the world's classiest actors, or Shakespearian trained or whatnot, but they're well known and aren't a means of pandering to a market.

And then A Bug's Life has always just been so unremarkable to me, despite the well-rounded and impressive cast, which factors in now but didn't mean a thing when I was eight.

Cars is rewatchable to me, if only in a "hey, it's something to watch while I'm waiting for something to DVR".

As for Larry the Cable guy, honestly, he wasn't poorly cast. It was pretty much the perfect role for him, and you get the benefit of not having to actually see him.

If you need a dumb hillbilly, then you might as well get the guy who's made money playing a dumb hillbilly. Was the character great? No. Was it miscast? Not particularly.

A Bug's Life is just forgettable to me. I don't remember any funny or touching parts, but I remember watching it all the way through. I think it was the least developed of any of their movies.

I agree with farmacy. I didn't particularly dislike Cars... though A Bug's Life is vastly forgettable.

Though I also liked Monsters, Inc.

Agree with Cars, but um, speaking of forgettable...The Incredibles...

*ducks*

Arghhhh, uncover your ears Fletch! Cars is a damn good movie.

A Bug's Life is a snooze fest. Aside from the one line "Who ordered the poo-poo platter?" I don't recall laughing all that much.

The Incredibles...easy victory.

Oh, and don't forget, in 52 days my BD masterpiece is released!

Nic Cage,

Based on your choices of movies these past few years, I'm not surprised that you really enjoy Cars.

And what's with all the hate towards A Bugs Life?

Myherobobhope said...

I don't hate A Bug's Life.

I just don't love/enjoy it.

Could I tolerate it? Sure. Pixar hasn't made a BAD movie yet... but the plotline, characters and such did not resonate with me.

It's just a forgettable movie. I can vividly recall a funny/touching scene from every other movie of theirs (that i've seen), and not a single bit from A Bug's Life.

I don't hate it, it was just worse than Cars.

Daniel - you're high again, aren't you? You think The Incredibles is forgtettable? You gotta save that for the next edition of Outlandish Statements...

As I said, I've barely seen Bug's and Monster's. Though both seen pretty good, but nowhere near the level of all the others, Cars notwithstanding, which I'm laboring my way through right now (I keep turning it on before bed and falling asleep, though it's late, so it's not all the flick's fault). Still, it seems to be the worst by far.
