Ladies of the 90s Tournament - Round 1: Heather Graham (1) vs. Linda Fiorentino (8)

Previous results: Cameron Diaz sent Jenny...wait for it....wait for it...back to the block, trouncing her 19-5. I fully expect another beatdown today, but we've got to get through these mismatches somehow. Expect a much tighter matchup for tomorrow's through-the-weekend showdown. Heather Graham

Comments: Rollergirl.
90s Highlights: Swingers, Boogie Nights, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

Linda Fiorentino

Comments: John Travolta is a friggin' Ladies of the 90s magnet. You remember Shout, right? That movie of his that came out in that period of time in which the world forgot Travolta existed? Yeah, that's the one. Well, it co-stars not only Ms. Fiorentino, but also her opponent today, Heather Graham, as well as recent loser Gwyneth Paltrow. (Oh, and he's married to Ladies of the 80s juggernaut Kelly Preston. Jeez.)

Anyway, despite hitting the mark with her first-ever role in 1985's Vision Quest (best wrestling movie about actual wrestling ever?), Fiorentino didn't really make a name for herself in John Dahl's much-loved neo-noir thriller The Last Seduction (see it), which, for better or worse, managed to get her typecast as the raven-haired seductress of Hollywood for the next few years (Jade, Unforgettable). But those that had actually seen Seduction knew that she had a gift for comedy, and she thankfully showed it in two of the 90s best, Men in Black and Dogma.

She has but one credit since 2002 - some 2009 film that no one saw called Once More With Feeling. The screen misses her, as do I.

This should be a blowout.

As much as I like Dogma and enjoy Men in Black, I gotta go with Heather.

Linda got my vote simply because I am glad she made the cut for the tournament. No way she is pulling a VCU upset over Rollergirl though...
