Twelve Tags #1

I would love to present you with one of three reviews (Milk, Nobel Son, Australia) that I need to finish up (or get started), as I'm woefully running behind. Unfortunately, I'm staying way too busy at work to possibly do so. Please call the whambulance for me, and maybe stop at Cryl's Jr. and get me a whamburger with some french cries while you're at it.

Anyhoo, in the meantime, the least I can do is provide you with a fun diversion. This one's got long-term legs (if you like it; I do) - I'm going to give you a dozen taglines, all you have to do is name as many flicks as you can. Get the most and you win. Sometimes there might be a theme, sometimes not. This time not.

1. One Man's Struggle To Take It Easy
2. This Time There's More
3. Snow Covers Everything...Except the Truth
4. Be All That Someone Else Can Be
5. He Knows No Fear, He Knows No Danger, He Knows Nothing
6. Danger. Power. Seduction.
7. Get Ready for Rush Hour
8. Big Cops. Small Town. Moderate Violence.
9. A Man Went Looking for America and Couldn't Find It Anywhere!
10. Nobody Does Him Better
11. The Funniest Movie Ever to Make You Cry.
12. Courage Now, Truth Always....

As you get them right, I'll mark them as gotten and stuff. Good luck. No hints.

Correct answers so far:
1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Sea_of_Green)
2. Aliens (Farmacy)
3. Smilla's Sense of Snow (andersw)
4. Being John Malkovich (Ibetolis)
5. Johnny English (Ibetolis)
6. Casino (Sea_of_Green)
7. Speed (Hollywood Chainsaw Blogger)
8. Hot Fuzz (Ibetolis)
9. Easy Rider (Ibetolis)
10. Octopussy (Sea_of_Green)
11. Steel Magnolias (Sea_of_Green)
12. Batman Forever (Sea_of_Green)

By a 5-4 score, Sea_of_Green edges out Ibetolis.

1. The Big Lebowski
2. 28 Weeks Later
3. Alien Vs. Predator
4. Talented Mr. Ripley
5. Memento
6. Serial Mom
7. Rush Hour
8. No Country for Old Men
9. Borat
10. Face/Off
11. Super Troopers
12. A Few Good Men

Some of these I think are actually right... the majority are guesses.

Also, I'm assuming I'm doing this right.

Fletch said...

I was all proud of you when I saw that you answered all twelve.

But...

...not a single one correct. Ouch. Sorry.

Myherobobhope said...

As I said, the majority were guesses (or I didn't want to leave blanks...) I'm bad at guessing movies.

Myherobobhope said...

Also my answers to 1 and 9 were at least not bad...

Fletch said...

Oh, I thought you did a good job and matching what it said to your guess. Some are stretches, but most fit great. A valiant effort, to be sure.

Myherobobhope said...

Haha, sorry, the "Ouch. Sorry." Comment put me on the defensive.

4. Gattica

I will try to get this thing back on track.

Ric Burke said...

Ooohhh, I like this game.

Ok, like Farmacy, I'm rubbish at this but I do believe I actually know a few.

4) Being John Malkovich
5) Johnny English
9) Easy Rider

That's all for now.

Myherobobhope said...

Good guess for #4...

5. Bourne Identity?
6. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
2. Breakin'2: Electric Boogaloo
10. Man on the Moon

Fletch said...

Ibetolis scores 3. The rest are still up for grabs.

I like the Breakin' 2 guess. Nice.

Ric Burke said...

Hooray for me. The rest are really tricky but after rummaging through my DVD's I can say, with some assurance, that number 8) is 'Hot Fuzz'. Should have got that earlier.

Myherobobhope said...

Hot Fuzz is a great guess.

2. Aliens

Fletch said...

Nice job. 4 down, 8 to go. Some are hard (11, 12), some aren't that hard (I think 1 and 2 are the easiest left, and 7 ain't bad, either). I'll be curious to see how many total are correctly named. I'm impressed so far. I have no idea how many I'd be able to get...

Fletch said...

I was a second too late. Nice job, Farmacy. Aliens it is.

Oh i wish i saw this eariler, I know a lot of these somehow. I did a high school design project on making a movie poster years back, and a huge amount of research went into things as simple as a tag line.

1. Ferris Buller's Day off
3. Smilla's Sense of Snow
10. Octopussy
11. Steel Magnolias
12. Batman Forever

Nick said...

Bah... all the ones I know have been answered. And I was totally gonna say Big Lebowski for #1, as well... but Sea is right... it's Ferris Bueller. I knew Hot Fuzz, as well. Speed is correct, as well...

Hell, I think Sea_of_Green solved all of them. DAMNIT. I'm always too late on this stuff.

7. Speed
10. Octopussy
11. Steel Magnolias
12. Batman Forever

I'll admit I had to look one of them up (sounded familar) and another I got some help with a female companion.

Nice job, gang. See updated results above. Perhaps this could become Tuesday's Twelve Tags....

Ric Burke said...

Damn you Sea of Green, I shall be victorious, bring on next Tuesday's Twelve Tags' - I'll be waiting.

On a side note. What an absolutely awful tag line for 'Aliens'.

Please make this a regular thing, aside from enjoying it, it's also the only game I'm remotely good at. That Stained Glass game you've got going leaves me flummoxed every time.

Sea-of-Green said...

Sorry! I just happen to have most of these on DVD -- so it was a matter of double-checking the ad propaganda on the DVD boxes. :-)

And -- YEAH -- this was fun! Would totally make a fun weekly feature. :-)

Myherobobhope said...

You know what's really sad? I didn't realize that those were the actual movie titles... I just thought they were Fletch's version of what they should be...
