Dudes of the 80s Tournament - WINNER: John Cusack

Proving Chuck Klosterman right, the voters in the Dudes of the 80s tournament selected the everyman, attainable, brainy-yet-still-a-smartass John Cusack over the confident swagger of a Napoleonic hunk, as the Better Off Dead star took down Tom Cruise in the championship round by the score of 22-14. As I said yesterday, thanks again to all that voted, commented or otherwise publicized this little exercise. Time to return to regular programming!

Previous results: 19-18. #1 seed Row Lowe had his hands full with Eddie Murphy, but had just enough support to squeeze by. Had the voting lasted a few hours more, this might've tipped the other way. Click here to view the updated full bracket.

Say what you must about the outcomes of some of the matchups (Lowe winning = racist? C'mon - he won by a single vote, and was a top seed!), but I think we ended up with some really potentially great ones in the final rounds. Today's battle of the underdogs (Fox has taken down Superman and John Depp - can he continue his run with Cusack?), an upcoming Maverick-Iceman game, a bad boy battle with Lowe and Downey, Jr. and a Red Dawn reunion with Sheen against the Swayze. Really looking forward to next week and beyond.
