Denise Richards
Comments: It's funny how the mind can play tricks on you; perhaps it's due to her long list of TV appearances throughout the early- and mid-90s (among them, a famous Seinfeld ep drenched in her cleavage, Saved by the Bell, Beverly Hills 90210, Married with Children, Melrose Place), but I was shocked to see how few films Richards was actually in. Her first movie of note wasn't until 1997, in Gregg Araki's Nowhere, but then, ironically, she was everywhere, with Starship Troopers, Wild Things, Drop Dead Gorgeous and The World Is Not Enough all filling out the rest of the 90s for her.
90s Highlights: See above. That's it.
Shannon Elizabeth
Comments: Then again, Richards' resume is deep and varied compared to Elizabeth's. A few TV appearances (Step by Step!, Pacific Blue!), and then - BLAMMO - American Pie in 1999, barely in time to qualify her for this tourney. Some would say still not enough, but can you think of a bigger "one-hit wonder" actress of the decade? That one role was enough to propel her career for a solid seven years - it's only recently that it's been reduced to fumes. Shockingly, I don't see her name attached to the fourth film in the series that made her name: American Reunion, coming out next year. You'd think she could use the boost...
90s Highlights: American Pie
6 people have chosen wisely: on "Ladies of the 90s Tournament - Round 1: Denise Richards (2) vs. Shannon Elizabeth (7)"
Shannon was hot but she doesn't stand a chance against 90's goddess Denise Richards.
Hmm I'm not really into either of these actresses but Drop Dead Gorgeous is one of my favorite movies so I'm going with Denise. Her talent show performance with a Jesus doll is priceless.
Plus I haven't even seen any of Shannon's 90's movies.
No movie has ever made me want to drink champagne more than Wild Things...although I never was able to drink it off of something as nice a Denise Richards God-given "talents".
This has to be the toughest bracket out of all of them so far. So difficult to choose.
I like voting for the underdog, but even I can't deny Richards wins out this time.
@ All except Jason - Yea, if Shannon had had maybe even just two or three more relevant roles on her resume, this might have been a fair fight, but hot as her appearance in AP was, Richards body of work (in all forms) is just too much.
@ Jason - I can respect that line of thinking, for sure. She endeared herself to you there.
