Expect a great second-week showing from Inception - it's still July and these are the major releases of the weekend? Sure makes you wonder where Summer 2010 got that terrible rep...
Salt
...that being said, Salt has received pretty positive reviews thus far. Or rather, that's the impression I was under until I checked Rotten Tomatoes earlier and saw that it had a 56% approval rating.
I'm marginally interested in seeing this, and that's putting it pretty kindly. Did you know that the role was originally written for Tom Cruise? Of course you did, as that's apparently the only interesting thing anyone has had to say up till now about Salt. Not exactly a beacon of hope there.
Um...it does have Liev Schrieber and Chewitall Edgeonthefloor co-starring, though, for whatever that's worth.

Ramona and Beezus
Do any kids these days know what this is about at all anymore? Pretty sure I was never in the demographic anyway, what with having a penis and all, but I can't recall the last time I'd heard the name Beverly Cleary prior to this coming out. Hell, I thought she was the one that wrote Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing... but that's Judy Blume.

To boot - this is starring some Disney teen princess I've never heard of that probably has naughty pics somewhere out there on the internet. My desire to see this ranks somewhere in between Sex and the City 2 and The Human Centipede (in that statement, I would rather watch the former than the latter - yes, it's true).

5 people have chosen wisely: on "TGITDNMAR (7/23/10)"
Yeah, I just saw a trailer for Ramona and Beezus a couple days ago, and then was shocked (so to speak) to find out it was coming out today. Seriously, there had been no trailers for it until 2 days before it's released?
And the Disney girl you mentioned is Selena Gomez. I think I only heard of her because of my students last year. Did you know she's 18? She looks no older than 14.
I haven't even seen a trailer, but then again, I don't watch Nickelodeon or Disney Channel, and that's probably where the heavy marketing is taking place, if at all.
I've heard her name, but (see above) have never seen a thing she's done. It's like the movie doesn't exist in my world. I guess that's sexist - I have at least marginal interest in kid's movies aimed at boys, but the one for girls - nope, can't say so.
I think I saw the trailer on Fox... I don't really watch much network TV anymore that isn't through Netflix. So the only thing's I watch are like on Fox and NBC and ABC. And right now, all I'm really watching is "So You Think You Can Dance?" which is on Fox. So it had to be that.
SALT is eh. There are some cool moments, but it's predictable as all holy hell and bends reality way too much! It was fun, but if someone asked what they should see this weekend, I'd say see INCEPTION again. Seriously, I was watching SALT, and I kept thinking the whole time that I could be in INCEPTION for the third time and still be enjoying it more than this. Ok, maybe that's a bit harsh, but, it's not as good as everyone is saying it is.
You guys have just now seen the trailer for RAMONA? My theater(s) have had posters up since what feels like December and the trailer playing in at least every third movie I see. So, I'm very happy the movie's officially out so I no longer have to repeatedly see the trailer, like back before SHUTTER ISLAND came out.
Might go see SALT just for some dumb action sequences, but by all probability a third outing for INCEPTION is in order.
