The Dude That Does Stuff Movie Plot Game #6

Last Week's Results: JacksSmirkingRevenge pulled out a second straight victory with 4 points, though I deserve a mention as well, what with the six (!) stumpers I walked away with.

The concept is overwhelmingly simple; below are 15 movie plots, torn down to their basest base, and invariably involving the words "dude" and/or "stuff." All you must do is name the film. 1 point per correct answer; he/she with the most points wins. Google to your heart's content; it will do you no good. Many films might match the plots you see below, but there is only one correct answer, and that's the one that's in my head when I write it.

Have fun with this stuff, dudes and dudettes.

1. Dude is tormented by...stuff?
2. Dude eats stuff.
3. Dude stops doing stuff.
4. Dude doesn't want stuff taken away from him.
5. Dudes and dudette think they can do stuff, but they can't...but they can.
6. Dude does stuff the wrong way.
7. Dude gives up stuff.
8. Dude needs to throw stuff away.
9. Dude's gonna try doing stuff again. Bad idea.
10. Dudes do stuff to get back at other dudes that did bad stuff.
11. Dude and dudette do random stuff together.
12. Dude does stuff for the second time.
13. Dudes engage in lifelong battle over stuff.
14. Dudes turn stuff off, so to speak.
15. Dude and dudette look for a place for their stuff.

As you get them right, I'll mark them as gotten and stuff. Good luck.

A 3-for-3 start to the game! Rare, indeed.

This is not the kind of movie brought up here, but I´ll try anyway:
13. The Duellist

Jason Soto said...

1. Jacob's Ladder
7. Seven Pounds
12. Deja Vu
12. Groundhog Day
12. Back to the Future Part 2
13. Highlander/Highlander 2
10. Boondock Saints
10. Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

I know I'm all over the place but this is the most random plots yet.

Wampa - how dare you! What's that supposed to mean? I talk about all kinds of movies (except "classic" ones, in which case if The Duellist is one of them, ignore everything I just said). Anyway, that's not it.

Jason - WRONG! x 8.

"I know I'm all over the place but this is the most random plots yet."

I'm admittedly a terrible judge of this, but I don't think so. Even if they are, well, that be the point, I guess. There are subtle clues in many of them, and if you know me, you know that most are recent-ish (see above comment). Additionally, by and large, I try to select very well-known movies.

Good luck...

1. Requiem for a dream
5. Mystery Men
11. Yes Man

Fletch said...

1/3 start, JSR. Glad someone got Mystery Men. :)

7. 40 days and 40 nights

9)Mr. 3000, The Pledge, The Wrestler?

11) 500 Days of Summer?

Fletch said...

Correct on The Wrestler.

Slowly knocking these away...

Difficult this week. Anyways...
1. The Last Samurai
1. Legends of the Fall
4. Dodgeball
10. Lucky Number Slevin
13. The Prestige

I hope at least Slevin is correct.

Fletch said...

I'm afraid not, JSR. Not even Slevin.

Jason Soto said...

1. The Stuff. That'd be hilarious if that's right.
10. Revenge of the Nerds

RarelyHeard said...

14. The Cooler?

Bob Turnbull said...

4. Up
7. Seven Pounds
11. Before Sunrise
13. Grumpy Old Men

Fletch said...

Jason, RarelyHeard (hey, you should speak up more) - WRONG!

Bob - mostly WRONG!, but you did get #11 - Before Sunrise.

OK - massive hint time - hope you're alert and on the ready:

1. 70s flick. Dude is literally tormented by...something...for 90 minutes.

4. Focus specifically on the wording I used in the clue and then hit yourself when you notice how obvious it is. 90s flick.

6. Very recent film, all about a guy that does something in a way different from everyone else...

7. What's a movie about a guy that decides to give up something? 90s.

8. Ok, this one is pretty impossible. Something cool will happen if this one special dude throws this one special thing away for good.

10. Jason's guess was closest, but this ain't no comedy.

12. The poster to this flick can occasionally be seen here on BC from time to time.

13. JSR's Prestige guess was closest here. Long movie, all about two guys fighting over this really valuable stuff. Great movie, too.

14. Very recent flick. Ought to get a Best Pic nom.

Alright, I've handed them all to you - are you happy?

Fletch said...

Well, Jason - you made it interesting. You're now in a tie with Fitz, with 3 points each..

Jason Soto said...

That's awesome but I give up. You gave me a total mindfuck with the hint for #4. I looked over every movie title that came out in the 90's and nothing is jumping out at me.

JacksSmirkingRevenge said...

6. The Curiuous Case of Benjamin Button

Bob Turnbull said...

10. Revenge Of The Sith

Fletch said...

Jason - "I looked over every movie title that came out in the 90's and nothing is jumping out at me."

I never said it was in the title...but good effort nonetheless.

JSR - Yes on 8. Any of the LOTR would have worked here. Yes on 6 and 13 as well. You're in the driver's seat now, methinks.

Bob - to quote Jeff Probst, "I got nothing for ya."

RarelyHeard said...

10. Sleepers

Fletch said...

So...you all like hints, eh? :)

Well, JSR has put this one away again and established himself (herself?) as the dominant force in the game.

Justin - nice job on Munich, though, and an excellent guess on #4 (really excellent even, for multiple reasons), but that's not it.

Thanks Fletch. And yeah, I'm a dude.
