Filling society's need to quantify things...

Is there a song that fit/improved/altered/changed a film for the better any more than this one?

It's such a damn perfect song, and carries with it such mood, that it's 100% inseperable from the film for me, and I love the distance between the settings and tone of the film contrasted to the feeling the song carries.

Hans Zimmer's "You're So Cool," from True Romance:

7 people have chosen wisely: on "Filling society's need to quantify things..."

Good post! Here's my 2 cents...

Garden State: "In the Waiting Line: by Zero 7
When they're all getting high (ecstasy?)in their friend's basement. Film speeds up/goes back to normal in a weird way. He's pretty tense while everyone else seems to be having a really good time.

Code 46: "Song #6" by Freak Power
The scene where they're dancing in club, fits the vibe of the moment and their sad relationship perfectly.

A perfect song indeed - it gets a lot of play on my iPod.

Might I submit, for your consideration, "Tiny dancer" from ALMOST FAMOUS. Proof that while a song might not necessarily be your genre, any tune that speaks of faith and optimism will inevitably bring you back to a good mood.

Why, Mrs. Fletch - you did yourself some research! I would have never known the song or band that did that Code 46 song, though frankly (as I'm listening to it now - here) I can't say that it had nearly as great an impact on me...though I do remember the strobe lights, for sure. Still, a good song.

Good call on the Garden State song, too, though some could argue that that soundtrack has a number of songs that assisted the movie.

Hatter - yeah, "You're So Cool" came up yesterday on mine. I swear, every time it does, I listen to it and then immediately go back and hear it again, and that's not something I do often.

And indeed, the Tiny Dancer moment in Almost is huge.

I knew I had heard this song somewhere else. It's in the trailer for Downloading Nancy: http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/downloading-nancy/trailer. I love that song.

I accidentally gave you the link to the Red Band trailer... Beware.

Blake - No worries on the red-bandiness of it...but damn, that is one effed up looking movie. I think I had a few mood swings just watching it. Good cast, though...
