Tuesday's Twelve Tags #11

Last winner: Shane, with 8 points.
The theme: Each movie featured someone getting kicked in the crotch at some point. Classy, no?

Here's the new dozen. The rules are simple: I'm going to give you a dozen taglines, all you have to do is name as many flicks that they belong to as you can. Try to resist the Google. Get the most and you win. There will always be a theme, though it's worth will vary according to how difficult I think it is. This week's is a bit of a nightmare, but not too bad - 7 points.

1. Meet the only guy who changes his identity more often than his underwear.
2. He didn't come looking for trouble, but trouble came looking for him.
3. The Ultimate Weapon Has Arrived...and Nothing Can Stop It!
4. Paradise has its price
5. Coming Soon To Theaters Everywhere... Okay?
6. Something went wrong in the lab today. Very wrong.
7. Opposites attract.
8. An out-of-this-world, down-to-earth comedy adventure.
9. Nothing is inconceivable
10. It's only a state of mind
11. A Comedy of Invention.
12. What if your deepest, darkest desire came to life?

As you get them right, I'll mark them as gotten and stuff. Good luck. No hints.

I feel like Dana Carvey's Master of Disguise should be in here somewhere... but I don't know where.

Theme: Mistake Identity/Pretending to be someone else

Myherobobhope said...

Nick: The good news is most of my guesses are wrong... I take the shotgun approach to this game.

Fletch said...

Alex - 2 for 2.

Farmacy - I do like the shotgun approach, as you call it, but the results are indeed spotty. 1 for 8, well below the Mendoza line.

Fox - that's just the power of Fletch (the movie, not me) influencing you.

Nick - indeed (see above). Only 3 down.

No dice on the theme, Farmacy.

Jason Soto said...

2. U-Turn
4. Postal
8. Earth Girls Are Easy (or Mom and Day Save The World?)
11. Flubber
12. Weird Science.

Let's see me get accused of cheating NOW!

Let's see. . .

3. Rapid Fire
5. Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. . . (love Lisa Kudrow in this!)
7. Did you do Out of Sight again?
9. Junior (starring my Governor. . . sigh)

Justin Gott said...

And I just went over to my movies to check some taglines. . .

2 is actually El Mariachi, the first of the Robert Rodriguez trilogy right?

Justin Gott said...

And I'm pretty sure that Fletch must be as much of a Coen fan as me. . .

11 is Hudsucker Proxy! (although at first glance, Flubber is not a bad fit haha!)

Justin Gott said...

I started looking at the past guesses (I could really use some right or wrong results Fletch. . .) and one of those "shotgun" guesses I think put me in the right spot:

4 is The Beach!

Fletch said...

Jason - you filthy cheater. How dare you put two answers down for one choice. ;) You gots it.

Justin - my apologies for the lack of answer-giving. Yes, you're perfect on all guesses, giving you 7 points. Only Alex or Jason can beat you at this point (by getting the theme), though others could tie.

And did I already do Out of Sight? I'm sure you're right - it's hard to keep them all straight, and I certainly don't go back and check everything. Besides, it's a favorite flick of mine - I'm sure I'll re-use plenty of favorites here and then.

Still waiting on a correct guess for the theme. With all but one flick named, it should be much easier...

Justin Gott said...

I have been working on the theme. . .

A few of them were followed by TV shows or sequels (Out of Sight - Karen Sisco; El Mariachi - Desperado; Romy and Michele - TV version)

A couple of them even referenced or had something to do with The Simpsons, which I found interesting.

Still working on it, though, unless one of those is right haha

And while I was looking for the theme, I actually found 12. . . but I'm gonna wait to give it out so I can get the theme on my own!

Justin Gott said...

Ok, I'm going to bed - this theme is giving me fits!

But 12 is Doppelganger, a Drew Barrymore film from way back when.

It didn't help me, so why should it help anyone else. . .

Earth Girls are Easy was going to be my guess for 8, but I got distracted by shiny pretty colors and forgot to put it in.

Fletch said...

Those shiny objects always get you, don't they Farmacy. Look - car keys!

No dice, Jason. And Farmacy made that exact guess earlier. No soup for you, either, Justin.

Hard to give a hint, but here's a "what's it not" one: not tied to an actor or location or soundtrack. It's something within each movie.

Jason Soto said...

Planet Earth.
Or a tall building/office?
Somebody jumping off of something?
Ok now I'm out of ideas.

All of them had wardrobe change montages set to cheesy 08's synth pop?

Myherobobhope said...

It's odd to me that of this list, Brazil is the movie I remember best (which I had to watch for a Philosophy: Utopia class...)

Nick said...

Theme - Somebody gets some kind of hand injury?

Myherobobhope said...

Odd it didn't post my theme guess...

Interracial/special relationships

Fletch said...

Final hint: Chick.

Nick said...

Kind of broad, but... a climactic action occurs because of a woman.

Myherobobhope said...

Meeting a woman pushes the plot forward. (There is a better way to phrase this... probably some technical term)

Fletch said...

Nick, Farmacy - nope.

I'm claiming victory with both SGC and this this week (at least, with the theme - Justin still gets the W).

The theme was: each movie features a dream sequence.

My "Chick" hint was intended for astute Fletch viewers, who will know that Chick Hearn appears in Fletch's dream (6'5", with the afro 6'9"...) in which he plays for the Lakers. But I'm glad I threw you guys off.
